I am so excited to welcome guests to our home again this holiday season! In anticipation of her arrival, I added some festive flair to our guest room by adding some cozy winter bedding and a few Christmas sprinkles here and there. Today, I’m sharing a checklist on how to prepare your guest room for the holidays to make sure your visitors feel comfortable and welcoming!
GUEST BEDROOM CHECKLIST
- ADD WARM LAYERS
- CREATE A COZY BED
- INLUDE SPECIAL HOLIDAY TOUCHES
- MAKE SPACE IN DRAWERS AND CLOSETS
- DON’T FORGET THE BATHROOM
The first thing I did to update this bedroom for upcoming guests was to add insulation with a textured rug under the bed. I found this particular Safavieh rug at our local Home Goods and fell in love with the pattern and texture. This is the first time I’ve put a rug over a carpeted floor and I have to say I love the effect!
The next step in prepping my vacation room was replacing the fall bedding with cozy winter alternatives. I found all these Martha Stewart bedding sets at Macy’s. I mixed three different collections for a cozy layered look.
I love the look of the checked striped sheets mixed with the soft winter berry pattern in the euro pillowcase. A cable-knit, gray velvet comforter and shams add elegance.
I finished the sheets with beautiful festive pillows and the softest sherpa throw blanket. I want our guests to feel comfortable and pampered when they visit, and this bedding definitely fits the bill!
I love throwing some simple festive decorations throughout the guest room to bow to the season. Not too much because I want our guests to have space for their personal items. On the bedside table, I added a lovely bell with a pretty winter scene and replaced the art print with a neutral garland.
I put a simple faux pine tree on the table for a festive touch, along with some lovely books that the guests will be interested in.
The final touch is making sure there is room in the dresser drawers and closets for our guests to unpack and settle in. I added hangers so they could hang their clothes, and I cleaned out the bathroom drawers to make room for their personal items. I use fresh shampoo and conditioner in the shower, as well as a razor and a new body sponge.
All of these special touches make our resort rooms inviting and comfortable for visiting friends and family. I hope this has given you some ideas on how to prepare your guest room for the holidays. Most of all, I hope you have a great season and make great memories with your loved ones!
